The latest standard UL2263-Standard for Electric Vehicle Cable (electric vehicle cable standard)
In the latest news, the first version of the latest standard UL2263-Standard for Electric Vehicle Cable (electric vehicle cable standard) was released on May 09, 2022. Electric vehicle cables were originally described in Section 4.8 of the UL62 standard, and have been replaced by the UL2263 standard. Therefore, you should refer to the new UL2263 standard during certification and testing. There are six models of UL2263, namely EVJ EV; EVJE EVE; EVJT EVT Group 1: Thermosetting material insulation type: EVJ EV Type EVJ — Rated 300 V, contains two to six 18-12 AWG thermoset-insulated circuit conductors, and may employ one or more insulated grounding conductors. The cable may contain hybrid data, signal, communications, and/or optical fiber cable in any AWG size. Type EV — Rated 1000 V, contains two or more 18 AWG to 500 kcmil thermoset-insulated circuit conductors, and may employ one or more insulated grounding conductors. The cable may contain hybrid data, signal, communications, and/or optical fiber cable in any AWG size. The insulation materials used for EVJ and EV are mainly thermosetting materials (such as EP, CR, CSM, CPE, etc.) CR: polychloroprene; CSM:chloro-sulphonyl-polyethylene; CPE: chlorinated polyethylene; EP: ethylene propylene rubber Group 2: thermoplastic elastomer insulation model: EVJE EVE Type EVJE — Rated 300 V, same as Type EVJ except that the cable employs thermoplastic-elastomer-insulated conductors and jacket. Type EVE — Rated 1000 V, same as Type EV except that the cable employs thermoplastic-elastomer-insulated conductors. EVJE,EVE mainly use thermoplastic elastomer materials (such as TPE, etc.) Group 3: thermoplastic insulation model: EVJT EVT Type EVJT — Rated 300 V, same as Type EVJ except that the cable employs thermoplastic (PVC) insulated conductors. Type EVT — Rated 1000 V, same as Type EV except that the cable employs thermoplastic (PVC). EVJT,EVT insulation materials are mainly thermoplastic materials (such as PVC, etc.) 2 .Voltage This standard UL2263 specifies the requirements for electric vehicle cables rated up to 1000VAC and DC. Three voltage levels are available: 300V, 600V, and 1000V. 3.Temperature It is rated at 60 °C, 75 °C, 90 °C, or 105 °C UL2263 has four temperature levels: 60 °C, 75 °C, 90 °C, and 105 °C. Compared with the European standard EN50620 and the national standard GBT33594, the maximum temperature resistance is 90 degrees, so the temperature of the United States UL standard is much higher. 60 to 105°C (140 to 221°F) dry: Dry environment (mainly indoor) : 60 to 105°C 60°C (140°F) wet: Wet environment: 60°C exposed to oil at 60°C (140°F) where exposed to oil: Exposed to oil at 60°C 4.Conductors Conductors shall be of annealed copper in compliance with A...
