  • Aichie | Brief analysis on the background of new energy (EV) wiring harness industry
Nov 25, 2022 Aichie | Brief analysis on the background of new energy (EV) wiring harness industry
In 2020, China's automobile production will be 25.225 million units. It is estimated that the annual output value of China's automotive electronics wiring harness products will exceed 50 billion yuan with the price of 2,000 yuan per single wire harness. The development of automotive wiring harness industry is highly dependent on the automobile industry, and most of the brand car manufacturers have their own mature and stable automobile supporting system. In particular, international automobile enterprises represented by German, American and Japanese companies carry out strict assessment and evaluation on parts suppliers. Their long-term high standard requirements for parts make the combination of automotive wiring harness suppliers and automobile enterprises relatively stable. It is difficult to change the traditional supply chain of automobiles. In addition, the formulation of standards in the automobile field is crucial, and standards determine the market. In terms of the domestic market, most of the large self-owned auto manufacturers have local wiring harness factories with stable supporting production, while foreign-invested and joint-venture auto manufacturers have higher requirements for wiring harness. Most of the wiring harness manufacturers selected are wholly owned or joint ventures of international component manufacturers in China.   In recent years, as international automobile manufacturers pay more attention to cost control and the localized purchase of auto parts is increasingly strengthened, a number of excellent autonomous wiring harness enterprises have emerged in China. Through long-term accumulation of product technology and synchronous development experience, these high-quality local enterprises have significantly enhanced their overall strength, and gradually entered the supplier supporting system of international automobile manufacturers with timely and effective service and reliable product quality.     As the new energy vehicle(Electric vehicle)market is an emerging market, no matter international or local manufacturers have too many existing products to promote, so the strength of suppliers' research and development ability will determine their share in the new energy vehicle market. In the process of rapid development of new energy vehicles(EV), wiring harnesses are one of the most important auto parts, mainly including EV car wiring harnesses, BMS wiring harnesses, Energy storage wiring harnesses, etc. as the new energy lithium battery is very unstable, battery management system (BMS) as the core technology plays a pivotal role. The BMS wiring harness is the most important and plays the role of the nerve center. In BMS wiring harness, there are many sensors besides wires. Vehicle batteries are new and cannot be done by traditional automakers (the supply chain system of traditional automakers is difficult to change). However, they have high requirements on wiring harness, which must be short, thin and ...

  • How to optimize EV connectors?
Sep 30, 2025 How to optimize EV connectors?
The EV battery connector has made further progress Electric vehicle batteries are being improved, and the new interconnected products that support them have been optimized to manage the entire vehicle's high-voltage power flow with extremely high safety and efficiency.   Range anxiety - the fear that the battery of an electric vehicle will run out of power and leave you stranded by the roadside - has long been one of the main obstacles to the adoption of electric vehicles. However, with the expansion of charging infrastructure and the improvement of battery technology, this obstacle has begun to diminish. The electric vehicle database sets the average EV range at 331 kilometers (205 miles), with the top-ranked model reaching 434 kilometers (269 miles). This makes commuting and errands within easy reach, especially for homeowners who plug in electricity at home. Take a look at the evolution of the Chevrolet Bolt battery series. In 2017, the original battery of the Bolt was a 60 kWh battery pack, with an EPA range of 238 miles. Then there was the battery recall, which affected the models from 2017 to 2019. The car manufacturer has increased the vehicle's range by 13% through its 2022 66 kWh battery pack replacement solution. In the high-end segment, Tesla is collaborating with Panasonic on a new high-density battery project, which will increase its driving range by 20%. The Model S can currently travel 585 kilometers (263 miles) per charge. Meanwhile, the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles is also expanding rapidly worldwide. Europe plans to add at least one fast charging station every 60 kilometers by 2025. In May 2022 alone, China built 87,000 public charging stations. In the United States, California leads with over 14,627 public charging stations, but even the sparsely populated state of North Dakota recently announced a plan to add one charging station every 50 miles along the two interstate highways that run through the state.   Major developments in electric vehicle battery pack technology include the use of new battery chemicals such as lithium tungsten, zinc manganese oxide, organosilicon electrolyte, gold nanowire gel electrolyte and hydrogen. Researchers from automakers and original equipment manufacturers of batteries and battery packs are expanding the ability of batteries to store more energy, charge faster and operate at lower temperatures. By improving the cables and connectors, these battery compositions are supported throughout the electric drive system. These improvements reduce the size of the component structure and the cables, enhance thermal management, and enable high-voltage currents to pass through the system more quickly. TE Connectivity estimates that up to 40% of the total bill of materials for new EVs can be attributed to the contents of their battery packs. Even if performance improves, the cost of batteries is still decreasing. To achieve fast charging, we need to be capable of carrying a current...

  • California in the USA has begun to formulate new vehicle emission standards
Aug 25, 2025 California in the USA has begun to formulate new vehicle emission standards
It is reported that the air cleanliness regulatory agency in California, the USA, is advancing the formulation of new vehicle emission standards in the state and may introduce a new tax credit policy for electric vehicles to counter the Trump administration's attempts to limit the state's regulatory influence.   The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and five other agencies have recommended that the state government fill the $7,500 federal electric vehicle tax credit that is due to expire at the end of September. In a report released on August 19th, these institutions pointed out that although funds would depend on the availability of resources, vouchers, tax rebates or other incentives would help boost the sales of electric vehicles and increase the supply of second-hand electric vehicles.   This suggestion is one of the multiple measures proposed by the above-mentioned institutions in response to the executive order signed by California Governor Gavin Newsom in June this year (2025), aiming to promote zero-emission vehicles. Liane Randolph, the chairperson of the California Air Resources Board, said that the agency has also initiated the process of formulating a new round of automotive emission standards.   Liane Randolph said, "For California, it is crucial to do everything within its authority to avoid relying on the federal government for reducing vehicle exhaust emissions." She pointed out that the relevant work is still in its early stages at present, and it may take up to three years to finalize the new standards.   This move is part of the ongoing game between California and the Trump administration over the regulation of carbon emissions from automobiles in the state. In June this year, US President Trump signed a bill that abolished the exemption granted to California during the tenure of former US President Joe Biden - an exemption that allowed California to set stricter vehicle pollution standards than those required by the US federal government.   In response, California and several other states filed lawsuits in an attempt to prevent this move (which led to the invalidation of California's original plan to ban the sale of fuel vehicles by 2035). Gavin Newsom also instructed the California Air Resources Board to initiate the formulation of new regulations: if the courts support the actions of the Trump administration, the new regulations may be improved on the basis of the original policy or introduced as an alternative.   Liane Randolph said that the "illegal" revocation of relevant policies by the US federal government might cause California to lose several years of achievements in carbon emission reduction.   The report released on 19th August also included other suggestions, such as building more charging stations along major transportation arteries and exploring plans to provide dedicated passage rights for electric vehicles on California's highway carpooling lanes. Currently, this pri...

  • How to solve the problem of Ford's rare earth magnets?
Jun 30, 2025 How to solve the problem of Ford's rare earth magnets?
It is reported that recently, Jim Farley, the CEO of Ford Motor Company, said in an interview that the company has been continuously facing a shortage of rare earth magnets. This key material is crucial for car production, and the insufficient supply has forced one of its factories to temporarily suspend operations.   Jim Farley said that the supply of the key component, rare earth magnets, mostly comes from China. China has implemented a new approval process for rare earth exports, and this move continues to drag down the operation of the supply chain.   Image source: Ford Motor Farley admitted frankly, "The company is struggling to keep operating every day now." We have had to suspend some factories and can only barely hold on for now.   It is reported that due to the shortage of rare earth materials, Ford's Explorer SUV production line in Chicago was forced to suspend production for a week last month.   Farley said that he was pleased to note the progress made in the recent US-China trade negotiations, but emphasized that the supply situation of rare earth magnets has not yet seen a substantial improvement.   He said, "The company has submitted applications to the relevant departments in China and is currently reviewing them one by one." We are explaining to the (US) government and the Chinese leadership how important the jobs in the Midwestern United States that rely on the supply of rare earth magnets are. US President Trump said that a new round of negotiations with China recently reached an agreement, and China will promptly approve the export license for rare earths.   At present, rare earth materials have become a hot issue in the trade negotiations between the United States and China. This kind of scarce raw materials is widely used in automobiles, iphones and other products. Automobile manufacturers, especially those focusing on electric vehicles, are among the largest industrial consumers of rare earth materials. The production of core components such as windshield wipers, electric seats, audio systems, and electric vehicle motors all rely on rare earth materials. China is leveraging its dominant position in the global rare earth supply chain to hold significant bargaining chips in negotiations.   China controls over 90% of the world's rare earth processing capacity and implemented new export licensing rules in April, tightening supplies to Western manufacturers and affecting a wide range of products from automobiles, fighter jets to household appliances.   However, it was reported that China had issued temporary export licenses to rare earth suppliers of the three major US automakers, including Ford, earlier this month.     Aichie: Professional wiring harness solutions, connecting the intelligent future In the era of electrification and intelligence, reliable wiring harnesses are the key to the stable operation of equipment. • Britain relaxes its electric car sales mandate in response to US tariffs
Apr 11, 2025 Britain relaxes its electric car sales mandate in response to US tariffs
According to foreign media reports, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer recently announced that he will relax the mandatory rules for the sale of electric vehicles in order to ease the impact of the US tariff policy on the local auto industry. This policy adjustment may bring new market opportunities for Chinese auto parts enterprises, especially automotive wiring harness factories and supporting suppliers.   Core content of policy adjustment According to the latest document from the British Department for Transport, the new policy mainly includes three measures: 1. Extend the transition period for traditional fuel vehicles: Extend the sales period for hybrid vehicles from 2030 to 2035, and exempt Aston Martin, Bentley and other niche luxury brands from electric sales targets. 2. Lower emissions fines: The fine for vehicles that do not meet the latest emissions standards has been reduced from £15,000 to £12,000. 3. Increase infrastructure investment: £2.3 billion for charging network expansion and tax breaks for car purchases.   Analysts pointed out that this "flexible transformation" strategy is designed to win time for car companies to upgrade technology, and the expansion of supporting infrastructure will directly drive the demand for electric vehicle wiring harnesses, charging modules and other components. The wiring harness suppliers represented by China Aichie Tech are expected to become the preferred choice for the diversification of the supply chain of British car companies by virtue of their high cost performance and rapid response ability.   USA tariffs force a restructuring of European supply chains Starmer's administration has made it clear that the change is a response to the Trump administration's 25 percent tariff on imported cars. Although the UK faces a lower tax rate (10 per cent) than the EU and China, JLR has suspended exports to the US, exposing supply chain vulnerabilities. Notably, the UK's statement specifically emphasized the need to "strengthen global trade relations." This provides a strategic opportunity for Chinese automotive wire harness factories: Substitution effect: European car companies may accelerate the search for non-US supply chains, Chinese wiring harness companies account for 30% of global production capacity, technology maturity comparable to Europe and the US. Local cooperation: Companies such as Aichie Tech Manufacturing can circumvent tariff barriers by setting up joint ventures with UK charging operators. The competitive advantage of Chinese enterprises 1. Cost efficiency: The cost of high-voltage wiring harnesses for electric vehicles made in China is 20-30% lower than that in Europe and the United States, and has passed international certifications such as ISO 6722. 2. Customization ability: For the UK market, manufacturers such as Aichie Tech Manufacturing can quickly adjust the wiring harness specifications (such as right rudder model adaptation). 3. Technical coll...

  • Liquid-cooled supercharging is coming, How does the car charging cable
Mar 24, 2025 Liquid-cooled supercharging is coming, How does the car charging cable "evolve"?
Introduction "One kilometer per second", the anxiety about battery life is gradually becoming history. Liquid-cooled supercharging is rewriting the energy replenishment pattern of electric vehicles at an unprecedented speed, and the market spring is approaching. Under this wave of change, how should the automotive charging cable industry upgrade in line with the trend? After 600kW, the new 720kW full liquid-cooled supercharging architecture made a shocking debut. The first full liquid-cooled supercharging station in the world's port was officially put into use. The charging time was sharply reduced by half, and the supercharging efficiency achieved a qualitative leap. The secret of liquid-cooled supercharging lies in the liquid circulation channel between the charging gun and the cable. Driven by the power pump, the coolant circulates back and forth, efficiently absorbs heat energy, and allows the cable to run at low temperature throughout the process. Compared with traditional air cooling and natural heat dissipation, liquid cooling has the advantages of rapid charging, safe and worry-free, low noise, convenient and light, and has more advantages in operation and maintenance costs and service life, and has become the first choice for electric vehicle fast charging.   What is "liquid-cooled supercharging"? Liquid-cooled super charging technology is a new energy technology that applies a liquid cooling system to the charging process of electric vehicles. Its main principle is to cool the heat generated during the charging process through a liquid cooling system, thereby improving charging efficiency and speed. The liquid-cooled super charging system consists of a liquid-cooled charging gun (vehicle plug), coolant, liquid-cooled cable, cooling system (thermal management system, including a circulation pump, a liquid storage tank, a radiator, etc.), a charging gun core flow channel structure, a tail cable locking structure, and temperature control. The liquid-cooled super charging pile is a special liquid circulation channel set between the cable and the charging gun. The channel is filled with coolant that plays a heat dissipation role. The liquid cooling system efficiently takes away the heat from the charging cable, so that a larger charging current can be loaded on a thinner charging cable, which doubles the charging power and achieves the purpose of high-speed charging.   01 What are the requirements of liquid-cooled charging technology for cables? At the technical standard level, the 2024 Asian Cable Summit Forum provides guidance. At present, there are four modes for charging electric vehicles: Mode 1: The charging gun uses a common 16/32A single-phase or three-phase CEE plug for charging through a cable; Mode 2: An ICCB controller is added to Mode 1; Mode 3: Use a double-head charging gun to connect the car charging port and the AC charging pile; Mode 4: Use a DC charging pile for charging. Modes 1, 2, and 3 are AC slow charging, a...
